November 12, 2018 ( San Francisco, CA ) John Thompson is a 27-year old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the Bay Area in California. His self-titled debut EP features five original songs including Rise and Shine, Fish Out of Water, London, Time To Wake Up and Golden Gate.
The EP features John on guitars, bass and keyboards. John collaborates with two other musicians on the EP, Dennis Galways and Maya Hall. He met Dennis six years ago when the two played in a Radiohead cover band and he met Maya at an open Mic. Together the three musicians create a sound that John describes as “David Bowie, Neil Young, Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, and the Who in a blender- garnished with Pet Sounds era Beach Boys sensitivities and vulnerabilities."
John became interested in music at age thirteen. Throughout his music journey, he has been inspired by the art of crafting beautiful melodic songs. John states that it “has been my main obsession in life. It has been what has grounded me and given me an outlet to express myself, especially when feeling lonely/isolated/sad, the emotions that we all struggle with to some extent in our lives.”
