Güten Morgan Releases Indie Rock Cover of John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High”

Tampa, Florida, September 20, 2024

Güten Morgan, an Indie Rock artist known for fusing 90's grunge with classic rock, has released an energetic and modern cover of John Denver's legendary hit "Rocky Mountain High." This rendition, available on major digital outlets from September 20th, is a spirited tribute that aims to transport listeners to the Rockies, whether they’ve experienced their beauty firsthand or not.

Driven by a powerful bass line, Morgan's cover breathes new life into the song. "I wanted this song to be upbeat and make anyone who hears it unable to hold still while listening," says Morgan. "For those who have experienced the beauty and thrills of the Rockies, I hope this track takes their mind back to that awe-inspiring place, even if just for a moment."

In creating this version, Güten Morgan collaborated with several talented musicians. Brent Bennett delivers captivating lead guitar riffs, while Harrison Reagan and Jessie Tharp provide the stirring background vocals. The track was mastered by BWH Music Group, ensuring a high-quality listening experience that stays true to both the original song's essence and Güten Morgan's unique style.

This cover stands out with its foundation built around the bass line, crafting a rhythmic drive that captures the excitement and beauty of the Rockies. Morgan also included a line from the original that resonates deeply: "Talk to God and all around you see His grand reply.... Rocky Mountain High, Colorado," encapsulating the song's spiritual connection to nature.

Güten Morgan, a studio artist hailing from Tampa, FL, describes his sound as “Indie Grunge”—a blend of indie rock with influences from 90's-2000's grunge and classic 70's rock. His rich baritone voice and guitar-heavy arrangements bring a distinct flair to his music. His journey began with the release of his debut studio CD, Trash Day, in 2019, and since then, he has continued to evolve his sound in his Cedar Magnolia Studio.

In addition to his solo work, Morgan is a practicing oncology physician and collaborates with other local musicians. He also writes and records with the vocal a cappella group The Point. Drawing inspiration from bands like Kings of Leon and Led Zeppelin, his music bridges the gap between classic rock and modern indie styles.
